Official: Rockstar Confirms Character Switching, Fencing System, and More
Alongside the pre-order launch and 63 new screenshots, Rockstar’s own official product description for GTA 6 confirmed several gameplay systems that had previously only been expected, not confirmed.
What Rockstar’s official text confirms
- Switching between Jason and Lucia. Players can control Jason or Lucia individually, or take part in missions as a duo — the clearest confirmation yet of a GTA 5-style character-switching system.
- Fencing stolen goods. Personal garages include a weapons locker and a spot to deposit stolen goods, which can then be fenced for cash — including loot taken from raidable gang compounds.
- Chapter-based story structure. Rockstar’s text references “each chapter” of Jason and Lucia’s story, pointing to a chaptered narrative.
- Expanded customization. More vehicle modification options and expanded clothing/hair choices for both protagonists.
- In-game social media. An in-game smartphone lets players browse viral videos, follow influencers, and get updates on events happening around Leonida.
- A bigger, livelier world. Rockstar’s description calls out beaches, swamps, and small towns across Leonida, with NPCs that follow daily routines and dynamic events.
Why this matters
Until now, character switching in particular was something fans expected based on GTA 5 but Rockstar had never explicitly confirmed. This comes straight from Rockstar’s own official listing text — not a leak or datamine.
